Spolchemie among European Epoxy Resin Producers who requested the initiation of an Anti-Dumping investigation against imports from Four Countries to restore a level playing field in the EU
Spolchemie, a member of the Ad Hoc Coalition of Epoxy Resin Producers (Olin, Westlake and Spolchemie) is announcing that the European Commission has initiated an anti-dumping[1] investigation into imports of epoxy resins from China, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. This anti-dumping investigation follows a complaint filed by the Coalition, which includes Spolchemie, aiming at examining whether the exporters from the above mentioned countries have resorted to unfair practices to sell their products on the EU market and at determining if these unfair imports have caused material injury to the European epoxy resin industry.
The complaint alleges that producers in these countries have been selling epoxy resins in the EU at unfairly low prices, significantly undercutting the prices of European producers. If the investigation concludes that injurious dumping has occurred, the European Commission may impose additional duties on these imports to level the playing field for EU manufacturers. Those anti-dumping duties will be at the top of regular customs duties. This measure aims to prevent foreign producers from continuing to benefit from dumping practices that harm the EU’s critical supply chains, local producers, their workers, and the communities dependent on this industry.
Spolchemie, along with other European producers, manufactures epoxy resins critical for various industries including e.g. Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Energy Transformation, Construction, Semiconductors, and Wind Energy. Maintaining robust European production is essential for the resilience and stability of the EU’s supply chains, supporting the European Green Deal priorities.
“If this investigation is successful and deterrent measures are imposed, it will level the playing field for both domestic and foreign epoxy producers, ensuring fair competition. Such a step may support the revitalization of the EU epoxy resin industry, enhance domestic supply chain security, support jobs and communities, and strengthen the economic security of the European Union by safeguarding a vital manufacturing sector.” said Daniel Tamchyna, Spolchemie CEO.
