SPOLCHEMIE, one of the leading Czech exporters and regional employers, successfully underwent an evaluation according to the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) scheme in accordance with the United Nations Global Compact platform. The result is the acquisition of the prestigious Committed to Sustainability certificate (2 Star).
The independent evaluation focused on four main areas – people, planet, profit, and products. This model integrates the principles of the UN (United Nations Global Compact) and provides organizations with independent feedback on the level they have achieved in terms of sustainability and social responsibility. It also offers specific suggestions for improvement and guides the organization towards further sustainable goals.
This year, SPOLCHEMIE has been very active in the area of sustainability and its assessment. In the spring, it defended its EcoVadis Gold Medal with a high score of 76 points – a level of sustainability rating achieved by only two percent of companies in the given sector. For the second time in a row, it also participated in the Usti Region Governor’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility and subsequently the National Award of the Czech Republic for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development (in the Private Sector category), which is announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Quality Council of the Czech Republic. ‘Independent evaluation helps us to understand how we stand compared to other companies in sustainability and also provides us with valuable impulses for improvement and development,’ comments Kamila Vítek Derynková, the Marketing Manager for Products, responsible for sustainability in the company, on the company’s successes in this area.
The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) is a non-profit foundation based in Brussels, established in 1989. Its goal is to recognize and promote sustainable success and to provide advice to organizations aiming to achieve this value. The EFQM Excellence Model is a globally recognized framework that supports organizations in managing change and improving performance, including positive changes in the area of long-term sustainability. The EFQM ‘Commitment to Sustainability’ certificate is an independent assessment for companies actively involved in sustainability.”
